The Workshop (Re)Aligning Industry with the Future – The New European Geostrategy for a Clean, Circular and Competitive Industry was held on May 26, 2025

On May 26, the Portuguese Plastics Industry Association (APIP) organized the workshop “(Re)Aligning Industry with the Future – The New European Geostrategy for a Clean, Circular and Competitive Industry”, at a time when Europe is redefining its position in the face of geopolitical, environmental and industrial challenges.

The event was attended by guest speaker Paulo Lemos, Technical Adviser at the Permanent Representation of Portugal to the European Union (REPER), who, traveling especially from Brussels, shared an in-depth view of the major instruments shaping the new European strategy:

🔸Clean Industry Pact
🔸Plans for the Automotive and Chemical Industries
🔸Legislative Act for the Circular Economy
🔸Revision of the Waste Framework Directive
🔸Green Claims Directive

The workshop also featured an opening speech by Pedro Paes do Amaral, Executive Vice-President of APIP, and a closing speech by Amaro Reis, President of APIP, who stressed the importance of creating favorable framework conditions for strengthening and improving the competitiveness and resilience of European industry, aligning them with sustainability objectives.

This initiative is part of the Sustainable Plastics Agenda’s commitment to promoting sustainability, innovation and circularity in the plastics sector.
