On October 2, 2023, the Jerónimo Martins Grand Auditorium at the Nova School of Business and Economics hosted approximately 200 guests for the Public Session of the Sustainable Plastics Mobilising Agenda. This event was organized by APIP – Portuguese Plastics Industry Association – and saw the participation of Hugo Pires, the Secretary of State for the Environment.
The Public Session of the Sustainable Plastics Agenda also featured speeches by Pedro Dominguinhos, Chairman of the National Monitoring Committee for the RRP; Filipe de Botton, Chairman of Logoplaste; and Luís Veiga Martins, Chief Sustainability Officer of the Nova School of Business and Economics, which was the venue for the event.
Subsequently, Jorge Coelho from the University of Coimbra, the project’s scientific leader, provided an overview of the Agenda. This was followed by presentations from the business and scientific leaders of the 14 PPS that constitute the Agenda.
A “Family” photo of the Agenda, which assembled the Advisory Board members, Co-promoters, and representatives from Frederico Mendes & Associados, the consultancy supporting this project, preceded the session’s closing remarks by Amaro Reis, President of APIP.
The Sustainable Plastics Mobilising Agenda, backed by an investment of around 39 million euros, is an initiative of APIP, spearheaded by the Logoplaste Innovation Lab. The initiative has garnered the collaboration of a consortium of 49 entities, all driven by a shared objective: to bolster the sector’s transition towards a Circular Economy, emphasizing sustainability.
