As part of Work Package 3, PPS 11 (ECOTELEPOLES: Valorisation of Post-Consumer Plastics in the development of Eco-Sustainable Telecommunication Poles), Periplast was present on April 1st and 2nd at the Plastics Recycling Show Europe (Amsterdam), where it marked its 40th anniversary.
is showcasing its extrusion line for plastic lumber, a replacement for wood. The technology transforms a mix of non-recyclable plastic waste – 70% LDPE, HDPE, PP and 30% other mixed plastic and contaminants – into durable products like outdoor tables.
Designed to process mixed and non-recyclable plastics, the extrusion system and moulds create high-quality structural beams suitable for a range of applications, including construction, landscaping, agriculture, and urban infrastructure.
The process addresses problems with traditional wood like warping, chipping, rot, cracking and degradation, offering a cost competitive solution based on reduced maintenance costs.
Beyond its technological advancements, Periplast plays a role in the Sustainable Plastics Mobilising Agenda, an initiative led by the Portuguese Plastics Industry Association (APIP) to accelerate the transition towards a circular economy.
